The Woof Board Unveiled

At the Howl-O-Ween Pawty held at the Home Run Dog Park on October 31st, we unveiled a new bulletin board in the pavilion which is called appropriately The Woof Board. The new board was donated by the family of Larry Kaiser, who passed away this past summer. Larry was a big fan and supporter of the Home Run Dog Park, and you can read about him here in one of our earlier posts.

The Kaiser family approached the Friends of Calhoun County Dog Park committee and asked us if they could donate something that would be of use to the dog park in honor of Larry. The top item on our list was adding a bulletin board to the pavilion area so that we could post notices related to the dog park and events.

After a little bit of designing, we came up with a concept drawing for the project, and submitted it to the Kaiser family who liked it a lot. We also got approval from the Parks and Recreation Department, and then worked out the material cost.

As the project was worked on, a few slight changes were made to the design. Most notable was a larger top sign which included the addition of paw prints in the design. By the way, they were specifically colored to look like the popular muddy paw prints that frequent the pavilion in the summer months.

The new bulletin board is made of a cedar framework which was cemented in holes that were drilled into the concrete to make is stable. The bulletin board was special ordered and selected for its outdoor rating. The Woof sign was made by Jetco Signs and the plaque by Recognition Inc, both of Battle Creek.

A very special thank you goes out to the Kaiser Family for this wonderful donation in memory of a very kind man who shared the same love we all have in coming to the dog park with our four legged friends.
