What to Bring & not to Bring to the Home Run Dog Park

What to bring with you

  • A dog or dogs (Please note: Park rules limit two dogs per handler)
  • A dog license.  All dogs must have a license, so make sure your four legged friends are wearing their license tags or that you have paperwork with you that shows their licenses are current.  Animal control will conduct spot checks from time to time.
  • A leash (Inside the dog park enclosure  is an off-leash environment, but you will need to have your dog(s) on a leash between the parking lot and the entry gate.)
  • Dog waste bags (these are provided at the park, but you are encouraged to bring your own in case you come on a day when the containers have not been re-filled).
  • Friends and family (Note: children must be 10 years or older.  Children between the age of 10 and 14 must be supervised by an adult.)
  • Dog toys are permitted, but we request that you take them with you when you go, and do not leave them at the park.
  • A towel is recommended if you use the hoses to rinse off your dog(s).
  • A positive and friendly attitude.  Remember not everyone you encounter at the dog park will be familiar with dog park etiquette, so be patient and refer others to the rules if you come across someone who is not following them.  Be willing to meet new people and make friends, as dog owners love to talk about... dogs!

What to leave at home

  • Do not bring any food.    Human food inside the enclosure can pose a risk to dogs, even when disposed of in the trash cans.  Certain foods like onions, avocadoes, apple seeds, etc.  can be poisonous to dogs.  Also discarded food in trash cans can attract other wild animals to the park, which can bring fleas and ticks into the area. Water and other beverages are permitted.
  • Dog food or treats.  We request that you not bring any dog food in the enclosure because not every dog is on the same diet as yours, and food can cause agression and fighting with certain dogs.
  • Children under the age of 10 years old.  (See park rules)
  • Dogs that are ill or in heat.
  • Puppies under the age of 4 months old.
  • Dogs with a history of aggressive behavior.
  • Unlicensed dogs.  Dogs must have a dog license to use the park.  This helps ensure dogs within the enclosure have their rabies vaccination.
  • Glass products of all kinds.
  • Cigarettes.  Smoking is not permitted inside the enclosure.
  • Any dog collar that has spikes.
  • Fireworks or firearms.
  • People with a negative or unfriendly attitude.  The park is enjoyed by lots of people and dogs, and visitors need to approach their visit with a willingness to get along.
