Howl-O-Ween Pawty Costume Contest Winners 2020!

On October 31st, we held out first annual Howl-O-Ween Pawty at the Home Run Dog Park. We had four main costume categories this year in our storybook themed contest. The four categories were: Scariest, Silliest, Most Original and Best Costume Duo (Human and Dog).

Ribbons were given for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place in each category. Each of the first place winners in these four categories won a $10 gift certificate from Pet Supplies Plus. We also awarded the Best Overall ribbon to one top contestant, who also was awarded a special gift basket from Pet Supplies Plus along with a $25 gift certificate.

The event drew over 110 people and a lot of entrants to the contest. The judge was Friends of Calhoun County Dogs Parks committee member Jeff Breedlove. Below you will find the photos of the first place winners in all four categories, and also who won Best Overall.

Mochi, held by her owner Danielle Hoyt, came dressed as a scary spider and won 1st place in the Scariest Costume category!
Jarvis, held by his owner Amanda Aspinall, came dressed as a garden gnome, and won 1st place in the Silliest Costume category!
Yogi came dressed in a Snoopy themed hand-made costume, and took home first place in the Most Original Costume category. His owner Katie Yarnell was very proud!
Sarah Prell and her dog Brutus won the Best Costume Duo Category with their Superhero themed costumes.
Sarah Prell and Brutus also won the Best Overall ribbon and the Pet Supplies Plus gift basket along with the $25 bonus gift card! Congratulations crime fighters!

The Howl-O-Ween Pawty was a fundraiser for both the Home Run Dog Park, and the Battle Creek Police Departments K-9 Project to add a new dog to the police force. The event was co-sponsored by Honor Credit Union, the Friends of Calhoun County Dog Parks Committee, Redbow Photoography, Pet Supplies Plus and the Battle Creek Police Department.

Thank you for all who came out to participate, and we look forward so seeing even more exciting costumes next year! Woof!
