What dog breeds are permitted in the Home Run Dog Park?
A.
All dog breeds except: American Staffordshire/Pit Bull Terriers, Chow Chows and German Shepherds.
B.
Any dog breed weighing under 10 lbs, or over 200 lbs are prohibited.
C.
Only ones that are crossed with a poodle or have floppy ears.
D.
No specific dog breeds are prohibited. Only dogs showing aggressive behavior are prohibited, or specific dogs that have been classified as potentially dangerous or dangerous pursuant to City Ordinances.
E.
Rottweilers, Jack Russell Terriers and Siberian Huskies are prohibited because of their bite history.
2.
Can I bring my lunch and eat it inside the Home Run Dog Park?
A.
No. Food is not permitted inside the enclosure.
B.
Yes, but please take your trash with you when you leave.
C.
Yes. There are no restrictions on food.
D.
Yes, but you must remain in the pavillion area only.
E.
Only between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. Monday through Friday.

My dog is being treated for mange, can I bring him to the dog park for exercise?
A.
Dogs displaying symptoms of illness are prohibited.
B.
Only if they are under 25 lbs.
C.
As long as it wears a body suit.
D.
Yes, all dogs are welcome.
E.
As long as your vet approves, and gives you a note.
4.
Can a 15 year old teenager be unaccompanied in the dog park?
A.
Only on Sundays after 1:00 p.m.
B.
No. 15 year olds must be accompanied by an adult.
C.
Not when school is in session. Only during Summer breaks or holidays.
D.
Yes, as long as they follow the rules of the dog park and look after their dog.
E.
Yes. As long as they do not have a dog with them. Dogs must be accompanied by an Owner age 16 years and older.

What are the hours that the Home Run Dog Park is open?
A.
The dog park is open 6:00 a.m. to Sunset daily, year round.
B.
The dog park is always open. Dog owners just need to bring a flashlight after dark, and have their dogs wear lighted collars.
C.
The dog park is open 8:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. daily, year round.
D.
The dog park is open 7:00 a.m. to Sunset daily, year round.
E.
It is open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. from April through October. It is closed from November 1st through March 31st.

If I am going to the Home Run Dog Park alone, how many dogs can I take with me?

As many as you want.

Who is responsible for picking up the dog poop at the Home Run Dog Park?
A.
Owners must pick up the poop left by their dog and dispose of it in the appropriate receptacles at the park.

The poop fairy.

No one does. It becomes fertilizer for the lawn.

The City Parks and Recreation Department comes every Monday and picks up poop.
E.
Volunteers come every weekend and pick up the poop year round.
8.
Can I smoke cigarettes at the dog park?
A.
Yes, just not in the pavillion.
B.
No. Smoking is prohibited in the dog park.
C.
Only on weekdays.
D.
Yes. It is outdoors.
E.
Only non-filtered cigarettes.
9.
Can I leave my dog at the dog park and go run some errands?
A.
Just make sure there is water and it is wearing dog tags.
B.
No. Your dog must be within your sight and under your control at all times when using the dog park. Dogs must be accompanied by their owner at all times.
C.
Yes, but you must get a special permit from City Hall before you do.
D.
Only if it is less than an hour.
E.
Yes. Just make sure you come back for it before sunset.
10.
The Home Run Dog Park is an off-leash dog
park.
Are you required to bring a leash?
A.
Only large dogs are required to be leashed to and from the parking area. Small dogs can be carried if the owner wants to. Once inside, it is an off-leash environment and no leash is required.
B.
No. It is an off-leash dog park.
C.
Only if your dog feels like he or she needs one.
D.
Yes, but only when you are walking to and from the parking lot.
E.
Yes. Dogs are to be leashed to and from the parking lot, and owners must have a leash on hand at all times inside the enclosure.

Is digging permitted?
A.
Only in the small dog area.
B.
Yes. Everyone knows dogs dig holes.
C.
Yes, but owners are responsible for placing an orange cone over every hole to prevent someone from twisting their ankles in it.

Only if it is on Saturdays during digging parties.
E.
No. Digging is prohibited, The Owner is responsible for filling holes created by their dog.
12.
If my dog is in heat, can I bring her to the dog park if she wears a diaper?
A.
Only if it is kept in the small dog area and will remain in that part of the enclosure.
B.
No. You can only bring a female dog to the Home Run Dog Park if it is spayed.
C.
Yes. But we recommend you talk to your vet for approval.
D.
No. Dogs in heat are prohibited.
E.
Yes. There are no restrictions on dogs in heat at the Home Run Dog Park.

What could cause someone to be banned from the Home Run Dog Park?
A.
Taking pictures of other dogs and posting them on social media.
B.
If you brought a cat with you, you could be banned.
C.
Only if you fail to pick up after your dog.
D.
Failure to follow City Park and Dog Park rules may result in ejection and/or being banned from and/or be subject to prosecution under Battle Creek City Ordinances.
E.
Going into the dog park without a dog.
14.
Are dogs required to be licensed to use the dog park?
A.
Only if you live in the City of Battle Creek.
B.
Yes, they must be licensed and microchipped and be current on their vaccinations.
C.
No, but they must be microchipped.
D.
All dogs must have a valid license and current vaccinations. Dogs must wear a collar with the County or City license tag and owner identification according to the rules.
E.
No. All dogs are permitted regardless of licensing.
15.
My dog is licensed in Illinois, and I am visiting. Can we use the dog park?
A.
Only if it has been bathed and seen a veternarian before entering the enclosure.
B.
No, only dogs licensed in the City of Battle Creek or Calhoun County may use the Home Run Dog Park.
C.
Yes, as long as they have a valid dog license, current vaccinations and are wearing a County or City dog license tag from where you live, you are permitted to use the Home Run Dog Park.
D.
Yes, but only on Saturdays and Sundays.
E.
Yes, as long as you obtain a permit from City Hall.

Can my large dog play in the small dog area with his small dog friend from home?

No. Dogs exceeding 25 lbs are prohibited from entering the small dog portion of the dog park. However, the little dog could join the large dog in the large dog area if you wish.

Yes, large dogs can use the small dog area. Small dogs are prohibited from entering the large dog area.
C.
As long as they are dog companions from the same household, a large dog can play with a small dog in the small dog area.
D.
On Sundays only.
E.
As long as no other small dogs are inside the enclosure when you let them play.

Are children permitted inside the dog park?

Yes, as long as they are 8 years old or older. Children between the age of 8 and 14 must be accompanied by an adult.

Yes. Dogs do not bite children, only other dogs.
C.
Yes, any age of child is permitted as long as they are accompanied by an adult.
D.
Yes, as long as they are 10 years old or older. Children between age 10 and 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
E.
No children under age 16 are permitted inside the dog park.

Can small dogs under 25 lbs play in the large dog area?
A.
Yes, but they must remain on a leash or be carried by their owners inside the large dog area.
B.
No. They must remain in the small dog area if they are under 25 lbs.
C.
Yes. However, owners of small dogs are encouraged to use the small dog only area, as it may be dangerous for them to interact with larger dogs.
D.
Only when the large dog area is empty of other dogs.
E.
Small dogs under 25 lbs are not permitted anywhere in the dog park.
20.
If a dog bites someone at the dog park, what must I do?
A.
Kick the offending dog into submission.
B.
Scream loudly and run away.
C.
If the skin has been broken or punctured, notify Animal Control or the police immediately.
D.
Fall down on the ground and lie still. Think nice thoughts about bunnies.
E.
Tell the owner of the dog to leave with their dog immediately.
